AI and the Privacy Act: what to do before 10 December
On 10 December, the Privacy Act introduces a new transparency duty for businesses that use AI in decisions about people. It is a disclosure requirement, not a ban. In this free session, Kat Giudes and Nikki Fogden-Moore walk you through what it means for your business and the simple steps to be ready, with a week to spare.
Wednesday 2 December 2026, 11:00am AEST (12:00pm AEDT).

What's changing on 10 December
A new disclosure duty, not something to panic about
From 10 December, privacy policies need to describe where personal information is used in automated systems that make, or substantially support, decisions that could significantly affect someone. That is the whole of it: a disclosure duty. It is not a ban on using AI, and it is not a rule to declare every tool your team touches.
Most small businesses are closer to ready than they think. This session shows you where you stand and what, if anything, you need to do.
What you'll walk away with
A clear path, not just a longer to-do list.
Forty-five minutes of plain, practical guidance you can act on the same day.
What actually changes on 10 December
The new transparency duty in plain words: what it asks for, who it applies to, and the things it does not require. No jargon, no scare tactics.
What a good AI-use policy covers
The handful of things every small business should write down about how its people use AI, and why each one matters to customers and staff.
How to get your team on side
How to introduce the rules so people follow them, including the awkward bits like unapproved tools and offshore staff.
A fast, practical way to be ready
We'll show a guided way to produce a verified AI-use policy in minutes, so you can leave the session with a clear path, not just a to-do list.
